Restorative Dentistry Tooth Repair Restorative dentistry procedures can very easily be used to treat almost all types of dental problems, like caries and dental pulp illnesses. Whether teeth are damaged, diseased, or decayed, a method exists to return the teeth to a normal appearance and function. These techniques range from the simple to the very complex, but they are all designed to protect, repair, or replace your teeth.
Modern equipment and techniques (such as microscopes, electronic locator of root apex, digital x-radiography) enable the painless treatment of carious defects, while today's materials provide permanent and very aesthetic composite fillings.
Restorative procedures. There are various restorative dentistry procedures which are successfully done at City Dental Clinic. The treatment method and option depends on the kind of the dental problem an individual is suffering from. These are some of the procedures that we undertake for our patients are mentioned below:
- Porcelain veneers - Veneers are thin wafer like substance which can be used for teeth restoration. Veneers can effectively correct broken, damaged, crooked, misaligned and misshapen teeth. Teeth's whitening is also possible with the use of porcelain veneers. We use very thin layers on our patient's teeth so that they do not feel their teeth are bulky at all.
- Dental Crowns - when a tooth is severely damaged or decayed, dental crowns act as a protective cover, strengthening the tooth and reinforcing the jaw. It is a restoration that covers a tooth in order to strengthen the tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown may be placed to support a large filling when there is little remaining tooth structure or attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing.
- Veneers - usually customized from porcelain, they are thin and semi-translucent facings bonded to the fronts of teeth. Veneers are durable, stain resistant and natural looking. They conceal broken, chipped, discolored, crooked and misshapen teeth.
- Bonding - This is a process in which tooth-colored composite resin is applied to tooth surfaces, sculpted into shape, hardened, and polished to match surrounding teeth. Bonding can close gaps, repair chipped or fractured teeth and disguise discolored teeth.
- Bridge - A fixed bridge, usually made of porcelain and gold, is used to replace missing teeth. A bridge helps to create a normal bite, prevent the drifting and tilt of adjacent teeth, inhibit decay in abnormal areas, and slow the onset of periodontal disease.
- Root canal (Endodontic) treatment - it involves basically removal of infected or dead pulp from the root cavity or canal, disinfection and their precise filling with suitable material. Owing to the aforementioned types of anaesthesia, endodontic treatment is practically painless. The effect of the process is a healthy tooth, which is a kind of "vital implant" that can serve the patient for many years.
- Inlay/Onlay - two methods of restoring normal tooth structure after decay or other damage. Inlays and onlays are known as indirect fillings because unlike a standard filling that is done in a dentist's office, both are made in a laboratory and cemented or bonded to the surface of the tooth during a second visit to the dentist. And unlike standard fillings, inlays and onlays do not weaken the tooth structure, but actually strengthens it.
- White/Composite Fillings - Made of tooth-colored material rather than silver and mercury, composite fillings restore the teeth's natural beauty. White silver fillings weaken teeth, tooth-colored fillings strengthen and support tooth structure. Composite fillings can be matched to your natural tooth color and are virtually indistinguishable from non-restored teeth.
- Teeth Whitening - The tooth whitening process offers those with stained, discolored, or dull teeth a whiter and brighter smile. Bleaching significantly reduces external surface stains caused by food, drink or to much fluoride. It is a painless and affordable process.
At our City Dental Clinic we use advanced state of the art equipments to do the different procedures. After conducting a thorough examination of the mouth we determine the best treatment options for a particular condition.
